Eastside…A Land of Lakes

While we are known on the Eastside for the beauty of Lake Washington and all the fun it offers, we also have several “local” lakes that many of our neighborhoods are built around. I have had the privilege of listing homes in Crystal Lake, Cottage Lake, and Lake of the Woods — all have that postcard-picture look of being nestled in the woods with a water view, at the same time they are just a few minutes drive to town. It’s amazing how close lakefront property is to city action!

One of my listings is in the premier lakefront community of Lake of the Woods, located off Avondale Road and 133rd. The community has its own private 17-acre lake that welcomes homeowners to swim, canoe, explore or just relax by the shore. On a nice day, you can pick up a game of croquet or softball with your neighbors on one end of the lake, or a game of tennis on courts located at the other end.

At the northwest end of Avondale is Cottage Lake, where a log house that was the first property homesteaded there in 1876 still stands. Remodeled in the 1990s, it’s now occupied and a beautiful picture of Woodinville’s history. Homeowners share a private community beach and park area, and the public enjoys Cottage Lake Park, which King County bought in 1991 and completely renovated. A fishing pier on a lake that is stocked with trout at the beginning of fishing season attracts the young and old.

Crystal Lake is another local lake, known by many as Woodinville's best-kept secret. It’s a private lake that also welcomes homeowners to fish, boat, and feel like you’re on vacation right in your backyard. Whether your property is on the lake or down a trail from the lake, you benefit from all the clubhouse activities.

Lakefront living options on the Eastside are as diverse as our interests. Large and small, home to ski boats or canoes, each lake on the Eastside opens up a world of adventure and family fun right outside your door.
