Frightful Halloween Statistics

Numbers are an important part of my business. That’s why it caught my eye when I read that a record amount of money will be spent on Halloween this year. Eight billion dollars, to be exact. That’s a lot of candy and costumes!

This is further evidence, according to U.S. News & World Report, that the economy is improving. People are feeling better about their finances, willing to spending more on Halloween and other retail treats, and also more comfortable borrowing again. Housing is feeling the same optimism as the wide-eyed trick-or-treater at your front door.

Another Halloween fun fact is about something else that will be at the front door in greater numbers this year — our furry friends. Family pets will show up when the doorbell rings decked out in costumes too – ones that we will spend a record total of $370 million dollars to buy! That’s $70 million more than last year. Expect to see dogs dressed as tacos, skunks, crayons, dinosaurs, chefs, princesses, leprechauns, flowers, and even as  Gumby. I better think about putting my little dog Wynn in a costume too!

Wishing you a Happy Halloween!
